Random thinking
November 4, 2008
I just harassed myself through a proper workout by myself for the first time in weeks. It felt good.
So today the ‘murricans elect a new figurehead. From where I am it’s amazing that this election is still close. On one hand you have an underachieving lout with a less than admirable service record paired up with a seemingly somewhat dim watch-me-smile mannequin, both of which spend most of their campaign time smearing the opposition. On the other a well-educated, well-spoken candidate with a proven record of service to the community who talks about the issues at hand at every opportunity. Oh, and a VP candidate that for all his faults seems to be a down-to-earth man with some clue as to what’s going on outside Washington.
Still if I could vote I’d still go with Nader. When the USA finally get a clue and put together an election system that actually grants the minor candidates a chance (f.i. by ranking candidates according to preference) it might even be able to honestly call itself a democracy.
Not that things are perfect anywhere else either. Pah.
